Oasis Audio Honored at Audio Industry Gala

Courageous and The Barefoot Executive take top honors at the Audies

OasisAudioLogoOasis Audio received top honors for two titles on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at the annual Audies Gala. The event, hosted by the Audio Publishers Association (APA) at the New York Historical Society, recognized the year’s best in audio books and spoken word with thirty awards. Carrie Wilkerson’s The Barefoot Executive and Randy Alcorn’s Courageous stood out from impressive list of titles in their respective categories. Courageous, narrated by Roger Mueller, took home the Audie in the Inspirational / Faith-Based Fiction group, while The Barefoot Executive, read by author Carrie Wilkerson, won the Business / Educational category. Two other Oasis titles, Money Secrets of the Amish, written and narrated by Lorilee Craker, and Sharon Ewell Foster’s The Resurrection of Nat Turner, Part 1: The Witnesses, read by John McLain, were recognized with nominations.

The Barefoot Executive offers practical guidance and real-life inspiration for listeners to achieve financial freedom. Wilkerson said, “To be validated for your work is powerful — there is no denying that. But to be honored among such powerhouses of talent is such an incredible honor […]. My sincere hope for this audio book is that everyday people begin to regain hope about their finances, their families and their futures.” Brian Hampton, Senior Vice President and Publisher at Thomas Nelson added, “Oasis is a wonderful partner, and The Barefoot Executive is truly a practical, inspiring book. So I am simply delighted that Carrie’s project received the business/educational Audie, especially considering the noteworthy nominees in the category.”

In Courageous, author Randy Alcorn brings to life the drama and emotion of Alex and Stephen Kendrick’s acclaimed 2011 screenplay. He said, “[Roger Mueller] skillfully interpreted Courageous, true to the characters. I’m grateful both to Roger and to Oasis Audio for this excellent rendition. And, going against such stiff competition, I’m delighted the book won the Audie Award!”

While Courageous represents Mueller’s first Audie Award win, he is no stranger to the nomination. He also narrated the 2009 Audie Award finalist and perennial bestseller, The Shack.

Mueller commented, “As a narrator, you know so much of your work is done because it’s Randy Alcorn doing the writing. If what you’re doing can help reach and reshape a reader/listeners’ heart it not only benefits them in their day to day living but, wonderfully, all those who come in contact with them as well. Many thanks to all at Oasis.”

Tammy Faxel, Oasis Audio publisher, said, “It is an honor to have had four of our titles nominated. We work hard to select outstanding titles by great authors that mesh in perfect harmony thanks to the brilliant work from our narrators. Winning these two awards when we were up against so many excellent nominees is a testament to my team’s commitment to excellence.  Special thanks to Thomas Nelson and Tyndale House Publishers for trusting us with their content, and to our Production Manager, Leslie Krueger for her tireless dedication to our product.”
