Thomas Nelson Bibles announced today that it plans to continue with its charitable giving effort under the God’s Word in Action program that began in April 2011.

The 2012 God’s Word in Action program will continue to support Seattle-based World Vision, a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide; and will focus on addressing child health and preventable diseases.

Initiated in 2011 by Sr. Vice President and Bible Group Publisher Gary Davidson, the God’s Word in Action program contributed $112,500 to World Vision through a guaranteed $75,000 plus additional support based on revenues achieved. Through matching grant programs, World Vision increased these funds into more than $500,000 – helping 24,000 children around the world.

“The God’s Word in Action program was laid upon my heart by the Lord and I am in awe of the impact it had last year,” said Davidson.  “World Vision’s focus and ability to help people throughout the world is amazing and knowing that we are able to play a part in those efforts is truly a blessing.”

The 2012 God’s Word in Action program will contribute a guaranteed $100,000 to World Vision and based on current matching grant estimates generate $525,000 – providing aid to more than 38,000 children.  In addition to the guaranteed contribution, Thomas Nelson Bibles will also give seven percent of revenues above its fiscal 2013 plan to World Vision. This will allow the opportunity to provide increased support over last year’s contributions.

“The program that Thomas Nelson Bibles has put into place showcases the core of our organizations,” said Richard Stearns, World Vision President.  “We are excited that the God’s Word in Action program will continue to support children, families, and their communities around the world.”

The funds contributed to World Vision this year will support both the organization’s “Survive to Five” and pharmaceuticals programs. These two initiatives help to ensure children in need can access the medicines, food, and clean water needed to survive and thrive.
